A glimpse into the past
Hundreds of bunkers still line the Dutch coast, built as part of the famous Atlantic Wall. This defensive line was constructed by Nazi Germany during the Second World War and stretched from Norway to the border with Spain. Many of these bunkers have also been preserved in the Netherlands, often hidden in the dunes or close to the beach. Atlantic Wall
During Bunker Day, you’ll get a unique insight into these remarkable structures. Volunteers and guides will share fascinating stories about life in and around the bunkers, the history of the war, and how these sites are preserved today.
